2018 Warrior CrossFit Muscatine Intramural Open
We are excited to announce our first WCFM Intramural Open. This will be a new way of doing the CrossFit Games Open, and we think you will like it! We have MANY new faces and it’s going to be an amazing event that EVERYONE can partake in. Read below.
How it works
If you’re unfamiliar with the CrossFit Open, it’s CrossFit’s largest annual online competition with over 300,000 people registered from around the world in 2017 and the 1st stepping stone to The CrossFit Games, the ultimate test of fitness. Workouts are released each Thursday night for 5 weeks. For most of us, the Open is a time to see how we’ve improved our fitness in the past year and push outside our comfort zones. Our community comes together and forms an amazing bond during this time. This year, we go into battle each Friday with our teams as we compete in our version, The Warrior CrossFit Muscatine Intramural Open.
For five consecutive weeks on Fridays, we host The Open at WCFM in a team competition format. The event will be ran during normal class times throughout the day on Fridays, however the real energy will happen Friday evenings. If you can't make the Friday evening events, no problem just perform the WOD with a judge sometime throughout the day. Athletes will represent one of four teams. The teams will earn points for participating in a variety of activities listed below. Who/How to Participate Each athlete that registers on The CrossFit Games website is eligible to be on a team. Also ANYONE with ANY experience level (1 week to 10 years) who wishes to have fun with this event. A link to register is below. Teams will be created by the four team captains recruiting members. The team captains are…. Holly, BJ, Britta, and Davis. A select few athletes have been notified as reserved athletes. These athletes will be divided up evenly across the four teams after the recruiting deadline of February 11th.
Register for The CrossFit Open
Scoring will be based on the following factors.
Attendance: - Each team member will receive 1 point for completing the workout and logging it on the open leaderboard.
Spirit: -The team that shows up each week with the best energy, costumes/uniform, supports others in the event, and more wins 5 points for that week. Creativity counts here!!!
Placing: -2 Points for the top Male/Female in the gym. -1 Point for the 2nd Place Male/Female in the gym BONUS Points: Throughout the Open, there will be opportunities for teams to win bonus points.

Registration for the Open began Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.
Prepping for The Open / Don’t be Nervous
Every year, athletes get nervous or are uncertain about participating in The Open. Don’t be. The Open is an amazing experience and we have been preparing for this for the entire year. If you end up not being able to do a movement, there is a scaled division that you can participate in each week at your choosing.
If you are unable to make the Friday workout and still want to participate in that weeks event, you’ll need to schedule it with a judge. Saturday morning classes will change up a bit during the open. Instead of a structured class we will be having Open Gym From 9:00-10:30 AM. This will give another opportunity to complete the weeks workout. If you have already done your Open WOD for the week use this open gym time as desired.
All workouts contributing to this event must be judged!
